Michael Ashby, CFO Calix Networks
Canary Audit Committee Chair Michael has been working in the technology sector for the last 20 years and is currently CFO of Calix Networks and a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to joining Calix he was VP of Finance at Cisco Sytems which he joined as a result of the acquisition of Cerent where he was CFO. Previously he was CFO of Ascend Communications and before that CFO of Pacific Bell. Earlier Michael was CEO at Network Systems and CFO at Teradata Corporation. Michael is a US citizen but was born and educated in the UK. He lives in the San Francisco East Bay with his two teenage children. Michael has a very strong interest in the early detection of cancer and has himself had prostate cancer on two occasions. He has been cancer free for over three years now, and counting.
Michael Ball, CEO GenoLogics
Canary Audit Committee Mr. Ball joined GenoLogics as CEO in 2004 to secure the Series A round of venture capital funding for GenoLogics and lead the company in its next phase of growth. Michael has 20 years experience in sales, marketing and business development with high growth technology companies.Previously, Michael held executive positions at various technology companies including five years in management with Creo Products Inc. as VP Business Development and VP European Sales and Service. Mr. Ball was a member of Creo’s executive team from 1995-2000, during which time the company’s revenue increased from $70 million to $700 million.
In addition to his Creo experience, Michael was a VP at Carmanah Technologies, spent seven years at Digital Equipment Corp. and has been involved with several technology start-ups.
Kevin Kennedy, CEO JDS Uniphase
Canary Audit Committee Kevin Kennedy is the Chief Executive Officer of JDSU Corporation and has been a member of the Company's Board since November 2001. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Openwave Systems, Inc. from August 2001 to September 2003. Prior to joining Openwave Systems, Kennedy spent seven years at Cisco Systems, Inc., as Senior Vice President of the Service Provider Line of Business and Software Technologies Division, and seventeen years at Bell Laboratories as well.In 1987, Kennedy was a congressional fellow to the US House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Polycom Corporation and is a member of the Board of Directors of KLA Tencor Corporation. Kennedy is a member of the Board of Regents of Loyola Marymount University.
Kennedy holds engineering degrees, including: a B.S. from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Rutgers University. He also completed the Executive Business Program at the University of Michigan in 1992. Kennedy was an adjunct professor at Rutgers from 1982-1984 and has published more than 30 papers on computational methods, data networking, and issues of technology management. In 2006, Kennedy was honored by the School of Engineering at Rutgers as their alumnus of the year and awarded an Alumni Medal of Excellence. He is a co-author of Going the Distance, a book published by Prentice Hall.
Thomas G. Labrecque, Jr., Founder, President and CEO NextSteps Research
Thomas G. Labrecque, Jr. is Founder, President and CEO of NextSteps Research, a consulting group that provides IP due diligence services to a range of clients including venture capital firms, private equity, angel networks, and hedge funds. Prior to NextSteps, Mr. Labrecque was a Managing Director at Perseus, LLC, a middle-market private equity firm with over $1.2 billion in funds under management.Mr. Labrecque is also Founder and President of the Thomas G Labrecque Foundation, a public non-profit organization focused on raising awareness about Lung Cancer and funds for research.
Mr. Labrecque received a B.S. in Avionics Engineering from Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University and an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Don Listwin, Founder and Chairman Canary Foundation
A 25-year veteran of the technology industry - he was CEO of Openwave and had been the #2 executive at Cisco Systems - Listwin walked away from his high profile technology career and launched Canary Foundation in 2004 in order to dramatically accelerate early detection research activities.Listwin's motivation is his family, which has been deeply affected by cancer. Listwin's father is a colon cancer survivor, and his mother died of ovarian cancer. He has thus far pledged over $22 million for early cancer detection research.
Listwin is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sana Security and serves on the Board of Directors of Genologics Life Sciences Software, PLoS, Calix, Stratos Biosciences and the Listwin Family Foundation. He is on the External Advisory Board for the Center for Cancer Nanotechnology Excellence (CCNE) at Stanford, the Stanford Advisory Board for Early Neoplasia Detection (END) Center and a member of the Board of Trustees at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
A native of Canada, Listwin holds a B.S. in electrical engineering and an honorary doctorate of law from the University of Saskatchewan.
Rob Lynch, President and CEO Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH)
Mr. Lynch joined OSH in early 2004 after a distinguished career at The Home Depot rising in only 3 years to the rank of Vice President of Store Operations. Mr. Lynch has built a proven track record of driving significant organizational and operational change at three of the largest U.S. retailers: Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and Sears.Mr. Lynch is a seasoned and proven retail executive with a balance of senior-level retail experience, significant accomplishments as a retail strategy consultant and an impressive academic background that includes an MBA from Dartmouth College and a psychology degree with high honors from Brigham Young. He has accumulated best-in-class industry experience through leadership positions with Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Accenture Retail Strategy Consulting, and Sears (OSH). He possesses a unique combination of strategic, functional and real-world field experience in the retail industry.
In 2003, Mr. Lynch was named by Chain Store Age as one of the "Rising Retail Stars: 40 Executives Under 40". He currently serves as a member of the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, City of Hope National Medical Center Home Improvement Industry Executive Council and Co-Chairman of the Charlie Wedemeyer Foundation Annual Celebration of Hope.

Danielle Chritchley, CEO MTS Marketech Solutions, Inc.
Danielle has over 15 years of sales and marketing experience, most recently in the technology industry. In 2004 she joined Marketech Solutions, a firm specializing in marketing, web graphics and web design.Danielle is the Marketing Committee Chair for the "Canary Derby" - a Victoria technology industry soapbox derby to raise money for Canary Foundation research - and has been a Derby volunteer since its inception in 2006.
Cancer is a topic close to Danielle's heart as her mother "Gisele" died at the age of 53 of Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia, a rare type of cancer. Her father "Jack" is an Oncologist and past vice-president of the British Columbia Cancer Agency.
Danielle is native of Canada and active with a number of non-profit groups there, including the Tall Ships festival, and the Maritime Museum of BC. She lives in Victoria, British Columbia with her husband and daughter.
Mark Teed, Senior Systems Engineer, Openwave Systems
Mark has been working in the communications technology industry for the last 24 years and is currently a Senior Systems Engineer at Openwave Systems of Redwood City, CA. Previous to joining Openwave, he worked at TELUS Communications, a leading Canadian national wireless and wireline telephone carrier and at Develcon Electronics in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and Pleasanton, California, USA. He has also held technology positions within departments of the Saskatchewan Provincial Government. Mark is a long standing member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Alberta.Also a native of Canada, Mark holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and currently resides in Edmonton, Alberta with his wife and two children.
