Canary Foundation works with various private and public foundations to make accurate early detection of all cancers a reality.
Fred Hutchinson Research Cancer Center unveils Canary Court in honor of Canary Foundation’s ongoing contributions to early detection research.
Listwin Family Foundation
The Listwin Family Foundation, LFF, is a private foundation that invests in cancer research with a focus on early detection and international development with a focus on education. The foundation has pledged over $30 million in the past decade to institutions including the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Stanford University, NetAid and Room to Read. In support of early cancer detection, the LFF has pledged support of over $22 million to early cancer dedication including underwriting portions of the administrative and fundraising costs of the Canary Foundation.
Lung Cancer Foundation Partnerships
The Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation is committed to preventing
lung cancer through education and research. It was founded in
2002 by the Labrecque family in honor of Tom's memory. At the
age of 62 the former Chairman of Chase, a non-smoker, died from
lung cancer. Tom's family and friends initiated the Thomas G.
Labrecque Classic, "Run as One" event, with the hopes of raising
lung cancer awareness and vital research dollars to find a cure.
In 2007, the Labrecque Foundation partnered with Canary
Foundation to create the Canary Lung Cancer Program. This
program is aimed toward developing effective and cost-effective
blood biomarker and molecular imaging tests for early detection
of lung cancer. For more information about the Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation visit www.tglclassic.com or call 212-651-6420.
Pancreatic Foundation Partnerships
The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research is
committed to advancing scientific and medical research related
to the diagnosis, treatment, cure and prevention of pancreatic
cancer. The Foundation's formation was inspired by Marc
Lustgarten, a pioneer in the cable industry and chairman of
Madison Square Garden, who died at the age of 52 after battling
pancreatic cancer diagnosed at an advanced stage. Since its
formation in 1998, the Foundation has moved toward supporting
larger scale pancreatic cancer research projects, including
sequencing of the pancreatic cancer genome. The Lustgarten
Foundation has partnered with Canary Foundation to build
blood-based assays for candidate biomarkers for early detection
of pancreatic cancer as part of its Pancreatic Cancer Biomarker
Development Project. For more information about The Lustgarten Foundation, visit www.lustgarten.org.
Ovarian Foundation Partnerships
National Ovarian Cancer Coalition - NOCC
Canary Foundation has received an initial grant in support of research from NOCC. Since its inception in 1995, the national Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) has been committed to raising awareness of ovarian cancer in communities across the country through education and support. As the first and only national ovarian cancer organization with a network of more than 80 Divisions throughout the United States, NOCC has established itself as the leading advocate for patients and families struggling with ovarian cancer. Committed volunteers work together to advance NOCC'S mission through a toll-free Help Line, comprehensive web site, peer support, professional education, the promotion of research, publications and Break the Silence, a national education program to facilitate greater awareness and dialogue about ovarian cancer. For more information about the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, visit www.ovarian.org or call 1-888-OVARIAN.
Silicon Valley Community Foundation
The Silicon Valley Community Foundation was created in 2006 through the landmark merger of Peninsula Community Foundation and Community Foundation Silicon Valley, and launched in January 2007. Serving all of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, Silicon Valley Community Foundation is a partner and resource to organizations improving the quality of life in our region, and to those who want to give back locally, nationally and internationally. Thousands of individuals, families, corporations, nonprofit and government organizations, and community leaders work with us to address critical needs and make an impact through effective programs and inspired philanthropy.
Foundation Council
The Foundation Council was formed as a means to communicate, educate and share information about early detection initiatives within each others' organizations. The intent is to try to leverage the combined strength towards policy direction for future government funding.
