Mathematical Modeling Analyst

The Canary Foundation is a non-profit focused on the early detection of cancer. Scientists focused on in vitro diagnostics (e.g., blood biomarkers) and in vivo diagnostics (e.g., molecular imaging) from several Universities (e.g., Stanford, Fred-Hutch Cancer Center) are working together to solve the problem of early cancer detection. We are seeking a highly qualified post-doctoral fellow or research scientist with an interest in applying mathematical modeling to model disease management strategies.

The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. or M.S. in decision modeling or game theory or biomathematics or biostatistics or health-outcomes research or a related field. The ideal candidate should have experience in developing and validating a mathematical model related to a medical management problem including a detailed analysis of the literature. Experience with decision tree modeling, markov models, stochastic modeling, and simulations is ideal. Experience in computer programming is also important. The ideal candidate will apply their mathematical expertise to developing models of cancer screening in order to answer important questions related to alternate screening strategies, cost-effectiveness, and other key parameters. Experience in writing research papers and grants is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also essential.
