With sadness, we announce the end of the Canary Challenge cycling event
Over the past eight years, more than 2,500 riders and walkers have raised more than $7 million dollars for cancer early detection research. Unfortunately, enthusiasm for events of this nature has diminished across the nation. Declining ridership coupled with increasing cost structure has rendered the platform uneconomical as a fundraising vehicle. The business model for cycling events no longer works.
Canary Foundation has always held onto a core value of fundraising efficiency. With the sad reality of fewer fundraising dollars from the Challenge going towards research, we come to the place where we must announce its closure.
To all Canary Challenge participants, sponsors and volunteers:
Canary Foundation invites you to continue to ‘ride along’ with us, and we welcome you as important members of our community. Please continue to work with us towards our shared vision. With your help, we advance programs in prostate, ovarian, breast, lung and pancreatic cancers that inform all cancers. We create pathways for young talented researchers to become seasoned investigators. We forge international collaborative partners at institutions that learn from our rich early work in cancer early detection as they create new centers and programs.
Please contact us for ways to stay engaged in Canary’s innovative, game-changing research.
